However, what shocked and surprised everyone was when Rishabh Pant was seen coming out to open for India along with skipper Rohit Sharma.

During the toss, Rohit Sharma announced that KL Rahul will be playing in place of Ishan Kishan. Following this, it was expected that KL Rahul will open with Rohit Sharma, however, the Team India management had other plans. As soon as Rishabh Pant came to open for India, Sunil Gavaskar stated that India has lacked to score quick runs at the top and that might be the reason behind this move. However, Sunil Gavaskar expressed his concern that if Rishabh Pant will be considered as an opener then who will be playing the role of a finisher?
