In order to maintain the beauty of Sukhna Lake and to clear the water body from the wild grass, weeds, and water hyacinth, the UT administration has hired a machine has been brought on rent from Mumbai for three months to get it cleaned.

Notably, people from all over the country and abroad keep coming to the Sukhna Lake of the city, in such a situation, wild grass has spread on a large part on its regulatory end.

Earlier, the work was done by the employees to remove this grass but now modern machines have been installed to remove this grass so that the work can be done well and quickly.

The UT administration has hired a company from Mumbai to remove the weeds from the lake. The administration has ordered a machine from Mumbai for three months on a rent of Rs 10 lakh, which will do the work of removing the water hyacinth at the regulatory end and removing the rest of the wild grass in the lake.

It is being told by the Engineering Department that the machine has been brought on rent for three months.  The machine has already cleared a large area of the lake from the weeds and water hyacinth.

Earlier, the work of removing weeds from Sukhna Lake was manual, which took more time and the entire area could not be covered in a go.

The problem of wild grass is more in the lake, especially from the regulatory end. During the rainy season in the lake, the water coming from the mountains brings with it soil and stones, due to which a lot of silt accumulates in the lake.

Due to which the area of the lake is shrinking and the depth has also reduced. The silt can be removed from the lake only when the lake dries up completely.

Migratory birds come more in the regulatory end of Sukhna Lake, but due to water hyacinth in more than half the area, the birds used to fly away from here to other places. If the water hyacinth is not cleared from the Lake, it may cover all the water bodies.  Due to the wild growth of water hyacinth, water has also stopped appearing in the lake from the regulatory end.
