Traffic Update: Police divides Jalandhar into 4 zones and several no tolerance roads; Details here

To improve the traffic system and to ensure law and order is kept, the Commissionerate Police has declared some new one-way points and traffic updates. These updates have been issued after a thorough review of the city. Vehicles will be parked at some points according to time. Police Commisioner Swapan Sharma has divided the No Tolerance Road and the city into four zones where the newly formed E.R.S. (Emergency Response Service) Teams will be deployed. He said that police vehicles will be parked at several points at different times. Here are the details:

Zone 1:

• The road on the left side of the industrial area of the Verka Milk Plant where there is a junction of 3 roads; Traffic will be one way from 7 am to 10 am and again from 5 pm to 8 pm.
• Via Point Bhagat Singh Colony to Sanjay Gandhi Nagar bridge will be one way from the right side from 8 am to 8 pm.
• The road from Lamma Pind Chowk to the industrial area on the left will be a no tolerance road from 5 pm to 8 pm.
• The road from Focal Point Chowk Under Bridge to Transport Nagar’s left side will be no tolerance from 5 pm to 8 pm.
• A No tolerance road has been made from Pathankot Chowk to Reru Chowk due to there being shopping malls on both sides. There will be a no tolerance road on the left side from 8 am to 8 pm.
• There will be a no tolerance road from Ramandi flyover to Kaki Pind Chowk from 8 am to 8 pm.

Zone 2:

• Johal Market Chowk will be a no tolerance road from 5 pm to 9 pm.
• A.P.J. School T Point will be No Tolerance Road from 8 am to 10 am and again from 2 pm to 3.30 pm as school parking is limited and students park on the road.
• Due to less parking from Guru Nanak Mission Chowk to Milk Bar Chowk, D Mart, Passport Office etc., no tolerance road has been declared from 8 am to 8 pm.
• Due to the narrow road from Bakshi Workshop to P.P.R. Mall, there will be no tolerance road from 5 to 8 pm.
• Due to the proximity of Dulhan Palace to White Diamond Chowk shopping mall etc., people park their vehicles on the roads. As a result, road has been made a no tolerance road from 8 am to 8 pm.

Zone 3:

• On Mata Rani Chowk to Babrik Chowk road, old cars are sold and bought which are parked on the road itself. Also due to there being a sports market here, people park their vehicles on the roads. Hence there will be no tolerance road at this point from 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 9 pm.
• A lot of vehicles are bought and sold at the road from Jhandiya Wala Peer Chowk to the Car Bazaar and the vehicles remain parked on the road in front of the Dhillon Sweet Shop. Also, since there is a sports market, vehicles are parked on the roads, due to which this road has been declared a no tolerance road from 9 am to 6 pm.
• The road in front of Tara Palace on Gil Gakhal Canal Pulley to Basti Peerdad Road is small and due to the presence of shops and factories nearby, a no tolerance road has been made from 10 am to 5 pm.

Zone - 4

• There is no auto zone on Shri Ram Chowk to Basti Adda Chowk road. There is a civil hospital and a big market on the road itself, due to which this road has been declared a no tolerance road from 8 am to 8 pm.
• Old Sabzi Mandi Road from Jail Chowk has been declared one way from 8 am to 8 pm.
• On the road From BMC Chowk to Kamal Palace and then to Kachehri Chowk, there are the car accessory shops, the Kamal Palace, the Kachehri and hotels, due to which a no tolerance road has been made from 10 am to 8 pm.
• Kachehri Chowk to T Point Congress Bhawan Road has been declared a no tolerance road from 10 am to 8 pm.
• Madan Floor Milchowk to the Railway Station Road has been made a no tolerance road from 8 am to 8 pm and one way.
• Due to presence of more electricity shops at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk from Dada Hoshiarpur Chowk, it has been declared one way from 8 am to 8 pm.
