Trump pushed Justice Dept to claim elections in SC, officials resisted baseless claims

Several people who knew Trump's motives told WSJ that officials threatened to resign if Trump had fired the then Attorney General, Jeffrey Rosen.

Donald Trump, former president of United States who believed that the elections were stolen and didn't concede defeat had planned to replace the Attorney General with an official who could pursue his so called claims.

As per a report published in the Reuters news agency, Trump pushed Justice Department of US to ask Supreme Court for invalidating Joe Biden's victory on the pretext of stolen elections.

It was reported by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday. According to WSJ, the appointees of the Justice Department resisted to file the case in the Supreme Court because they considered it baseless and lawless.

Several people who knew Trump's motives told WSJ that officials threatened to resign if Trump had fired the then Attorney General, Jeffrey Rosen.

Trump's idea was also resisted by then-White House counsel Pat Cipollone and his deputy, Patrick Philbin.

It was also reported by Reuters that Trump planned to replace Rosen with Jeffery Clark was was an ally of Trump. This plan was first reported by The New York Times.

Similarly, Trump adviser when asked to respond to these media reports said, the former president “has consistently argued that our justice system should be investigating the broader, rampant election fraud that has plagued our system for years. Any assertion to the contrary is false and being driven by those who wish to keep the system broken.”

Democrats have reacted to this news with so much fury because Trump's baseless claims resulted in the Jan 6 unrest of US Capitol.
