Micro-blogging site Twitter on Thursday night removed the Display Picture (DP) of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It, however, reinstated the picture after some time.

It turned out that Twitter took the action after someone claimed copyright on the image. However, as soon as the questions rose on the action, Twitter reinstated the same picture.

In fact, on Thursday night, a message was displayed on the DP of Shah saying 'Media not displayed'. Twitter stated in the message that the picture has been removed after someone claimed copyright on it.

After people started criticizing Twitter on social media, it released its official statement and apologized as well. Twitter said, "Due to an inadvertent error, we temporarily locked this account under our global copyright policies. This decision was reversed immediately and the account is fully functional."

Interestingly, Twitter has an image of taking on the administration.  Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has also remained in limelight for taking on the Trump administration. It started fact-checking tweets of Donald Trump. Dorsey also disabled US President Donald Trump's campaign tribute video to a black man who died in police custody, an incident that has sparked massive race protests across the US. After this, US President Donald Trump threatened to shutter social media over Twitter's actions on his posts.

Now, Twitter seems to have changed its approach towards India as well. The biggest example is Twitter showcased Indian territory Leh-Ladakh as part of China. The Ministry of Electronics and IT Secretary also wrote to Twitter Inc CEO Jack Dorsey expressing the government’s disapproval of the “misrepresentation of map of India”.

As per media reports, the government of India has sent a notice to Twitter to explain within "five working days" why it showed Leh as part of Jammu and Kashmir instead of a separate Union Territory.

If Twitter doesn't respond or if it's not "satisfactory", sources said the government has several options - it can block access to Twitter under the Information Technology Act, and a police case can be filed with up to six-month imprisonment.

Now removing and locking the profile picture of Union Home Minister Amit Shah who removed article 370 from Kashmir sends a foul notice to the Indian administration. It is to be noted that Amit Shah is one of the most renowned politics in the world. He is considered next to  PM Modi.

According to the Economic Times report, Twitter India's profit doubled in Fiscal Year 2019. Twitter  Communications India rose 108% to Rs 5.8 crore, according to company filings sourced from Veratech. Revenue climbed to Rs 56.9 crore during 2018-19 from Rs 43.4 crore a year ago.

Bill Gates in his various Interviews has already stated that if he does not hire Indians in his company then a separate Microsoft will work which will hamper his business. The point being Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey cannot afford to earn the rage of the Indian administration especially the Modi Government who gets wide support from the majority of the people of India.
