In another case of mob violence, two women were brutally thrashed and tortured on allegations of stealing vegetables in a village in Jharkhand.
The women on Sunday had come to Thakurgaon village from nearby areas to buy vegetables from the weekly market. While returning, their auto broke down and they decided to stay at their relatives' place.
The next morning when they were on their way home, they fell victim to a rumor that they had stolen vegetables from the fields. The villagers surrounded them, took them to Soba village, tied them to a tree and thrashed them. Not satisfied with beating up the two women, the villagers then tonsured them.

The two women would have been lynched if the police had not reached in time and rescued them. A case was registered on Tuesday based on the statements of the victim.
