
Undersmart city project, the first phase of rejuvenation of Jalandhar Railwaystation premises has completed and the façade of the railway station will get anew look in the next phase.
Disclosingthis here today, Member Parliament Chaudhry Santokh Singh who along withDivisional Railways Manager, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, AdditionalDeputy Commissioner dedicated the Dhwaj Vatika to the people on Friday. Takingstock of the proposed beautification, construction, development of a second entryto the railway station from another side, and heritage look to be given to thestation's façade, Chaudhry said that within two-three months the JalandharRailway Station would get a complete facelift. He said that under the smartcity project Rs. 6.26 crore is being incurred to develop it as a model railwaystation.
TheMember Parliament also mentioned that the railway station would equip withultra-modern facilities including escalator, foot over bridge etc. as this hadbeen decided for the facilitation of travelers. He pointed out that the façadeof this railway station would be developed on the lines of cultural heritage ofJalandhar as the railway station of Sultanpur Lodhi was developed.
It has alsobeen decided that the Jalandhar Cantt railway station will also be developed onthese patterns, said Chaudhry adding that after the city railway station, thework at cantt railway station would be started. Appreciating the northernrailways for taking the smart city project on a mission mode, the Member Parliamentsaid they had accomplished the work of Dhwaj Vatika within two months at anaccelerated pace. He also asked to complete the remaining works at the earliestso that the new facilities could be dedicated to people within stipulatedtime-frame.
Meanwhile,the Member Parliament also reviewed the other projects related to the railways.The DRM Rajesh Aggarwal assured to complete the railway station project in agiven time-frame.
Prominentamong those present on the occasion included Commissioner Municipal CorporationKarnesh Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal, and otherofficers from civil administration and railways.
