Union Minister Som Prakash’s convoy attacked by farmers in Hoshiarpur

Ever since the national ruling party- Bharatiya Janta Party has contentiously passed three farm laws, farmers across the nation especially in Punjab are in dissent.

Farmers have been sitting on the protests at the Delhi borders from past 8 months now and their request to repeal the farm laws is consistently being denied by the Centre.

Owing to the Centre’s ignorance towards farmers’ burning issue, food-growers of Punjab have been showing black flags to the BJP leaders. In most semi-urban and rural areas of the state, people have vowed to not permit a BJP leader to enter their vicinity.

In a similar incident, farmers in the Mahilpur area of Hoshiarpur has barred Union Minister Som Praksh’s convoy to enter their region and they have also attacked it. However, police personnel deployed for security took prompt action against the mob and tried to move them away. Due to this, a fierce scuffle between the police and the farmers also broke out.

According to the information, the farmer leaders were trying to gherao the car of the Union Minister while showing black flags. At the spot of the incident, ASP Garhshankar Tushar Gupta, SHO Mahilpur Satwinder Singh Dhaliwal and SHO Garhshankar Iqbal Singh tried to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, there were some other protesters’ who started chasing the minister’s convoy. When the agitated mob was stopped by the police in retaliation they blocked the roads.

Then some farmers started chasing the vehicle of the Union Minister. When the police tried to stop them, they got enraged and blocked the road.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Mahilpur SHO Satwinder Singh assured that the culprits involved in the case will be arrested soon.
