Unlocking process begins as Covid cases continue to drop

So far India has recorded 2.8 crore Coronavirus cases.

India on Monday saw  1,52,734 new cases of coronavirus, the lowest in 52 days, taking the total cases tally to 2,80,47,534, according to the Union health ministry. With 3,128 deaths Covid fatality has munted to 3,29,100. As many as 2,38,022 discharges were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,56,92,342. The country has 20,26,092 active cases.

A total of 21,31,54,129 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.

The top five states that have contributed the maximum number of Coronavirus cases are Tamil Nadu with 28,864 cases, followed by Karnataka with 20,378 cases, Kerala with 19,894 cases, Maharashtra with 18,600 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 13,400 cases.

By far a total of 16,83,135 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of these, 1.52 lakh tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the unlocking process in several states is taking place. The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday eased the Covid-19 lockdown from June 1 allowing shops and markets outside containment zones to operate for five days a week. This will be implemented only for now in 20 districts where the active cases are more than 600.

Whereas states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Haryana, Odisha, Telangana and Sikkim have extended the Covid curbs, while Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh announced a certain relaxation in the curbs due to a decline in new cases and positivity rate.
