War engulfed Ukraine had a surprise visitor on Monday as U.S President , Joe Biden visited Kyiv and met with Ukraine President Volodymyr as a showcase of U.S support to Ukraine in their war against Russia . He pledged to provide more support to Ukraine and condemn Vladimir Putin's persistence to continue this war .
This visit by President Biden comes just a few days ahead of first anniversary of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine as Russia started this invasion on 24 th February , 2022 . Biden made his remarks alongside Zelensky at Mariinsky Palace , that the West's support to Ukraine will not flatter as the war keeps on raging .
" One year later , Kyiv stands. And Ukraine stands. Democracy stands,” , Biden remarked . He also guaranteed that the West will provide " unwavering support " so that Ukraine can fight for its sovereignty and territorial integrity . The U.S. president also pledged half a billion dollars in assistance to Ukraine and also committed to providing more millitary equipment like artillery ammunition , javelins, and howitzers. But crucially Ukraine's request for F-16s from the U.S. was still not accepted .
