In order to bolster accountability and ensure seamless administrative functioning, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government recently issued a notification for state employees. Punjab Government in their latest notification has directed all state employees to keep their mobile phones switched on at all times, including after office hours and on public holidays.
According to a directive issued by the Personnel Department, the new order takes immediate effect and is intended to prevent disruptions in urgent administrative work. The instructions emphasize that mobile phones must be kept operational for official and administrative purposes, even outside regular working hours.
Not only this, but officers of Secretary rank and above have been tasked with ensuring that no employee under their command turns off their mobile device. The department stated that strict compliance is mandatory to maintain the efficiency and responsiveness of government operations.
Officials indicated that failure to comply with the directive could lead to administrative action, although specific penalties were not detailed in the initial announcement.
