Gurugram: "Victim's future would be ruined", says cop to the father of 16-year-old rape victim

When will this end?

Gurugram 16-Year-Old-Rape-Case Complaint-Filed

After the sudden outrage over Uttar Pradesh's rape cases, many other states of India are now reporting the rape or gang-rape cases. It is not certain when will it come to an end but for now, the count goes on.

Gurugram's Sector 45 has now reported a rape case after it witnessed a brutal gang-rape of a 25-year-old on Saturday night. According to the information, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in Gurugram on Sunday morning.

However, the victim has lodged a complaint against the accused and stated that the latter grabbed her while she was on her way to the washroom. The accused forcefully took the victim to his room and sexually assaulted her there. Also, he threatened to kill the 16-year-old.

It has also been alleged by the victim's family that initially the cops posted at the Sector 40 police station in Gurugram tried to convince the family to avoid filing an FIR.

According to the report of the Hindustan Times, the father of the victim has claimed that when he initially went to the police station to lodge a complaint, the cops posted there told him that his "girl's future would be ruined" if he were to file a case.

He further alleged that the cops also told him to "settle the matter" right then as the case would get "caught up in expensive legal proceedings."  The victim's father, who works as a labourer, said he had then signed a letter that he does not want to pursue the matter though, he filed the complaint later with the help of others.

According to the police, the initial statement did not mention sexual assault before the legal aid. But, later the police received a call from the police control room about a sexual assault case. After the complaint of sexual assault was received, the family was contacted and a case was registered, police said.

The accused is yet to be arrested.
