Motivational speaker & YouTuber, Dr. Vivek Bindra has been embroiled in a plethora of controversies in the past few days. While on the professional front, Dr. Vivek Bindra is at loggerheads with YouTuber Sandeep Maheshwari, on the personal front he has been accused of domestic violence by his wife whom he married a few days back. In fact, Dr. Vivek Bindra is facing various charges under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult), 427 (Mischief causing damage), and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt). The accusations have been leveled against Bindra by his wife Yanika's brother Vaibhav Kwatra. Amid Vivek Bindra's domestic violence case, YouTuber Sandeep Maheshwari's allegations about the motivational speaker's Ph.D. degree have come to the fore. 

 

YouTuber Sandeep Maheshwari in one of his videos accused Dr. Vivek Bindra of using fake degrees just to use the title of Doctor. Maheshwari on his YouTube channel said, "Let's try to understand the background of Vivek Bindra. He uses the title of Doctor before his name. I thought he was a doctor. But when I was researching his background I found out that he has not done any MBBS from any Indian colleges or even from UK or US. If you all research from where he got his degree then you will understand."

 

After students attending Maheshwari's show started to guess, the YouTuber hinted that Bindra has got his Ph.D. degree from Sri Lanka. Thereafter a news cutout flashes on his YouTube channel in which it was highlighted that Sri Lanka is giving away Ph.D. degree on just Rs 3 lakhs. A 2014 report suggested that India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) had issued a circular in 2000 to all universities and national institutes, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), to not recognise any academic distinctions awarded by The Open International University for Complementary Medicines since they were not valid in Sri Lanka where it is located.

 

Dr. Vivek Bindra's legal trouble

 

Going by the FIR, Vaibhav has alleged that Vivek Bindra locked his sister in a room, hurled abuses and physically assaulted her severely, resulting in injuries all over her body. The incident took place at around 2.30-3.00 AM on 7th December, the day after the day of the wedding. Vaibhav in his FIR has alleged that the fight took place when Yanika tried to intervene in the argument between Bindra and his mother Prabha. After Yanika tried to resolve the matter, Bindra allegedly dragged her into a room, locked her in, and assaulted her causing severe injuries
