China has responded to VK Singh's, India "transgressed" more time, remark and said it was "unwitting confession." China has also alleged that India's “frequent acts of trespass” were the root cause of border unrest.

VK Singh, the minister of state for road transport and highways said told the reporters in Madurai that China had transgressed several time "with his own perception of LAC" across the LAC.

Singh then added, “Similarly, none of you come to know how many times we have transgressed as per our perception. Chinese media does not cover it”. He also underlined, “Let me assure you, if China has transgressed 10 times, we must have done it at least 50 times," according to a report published in The Wire.

In response to Singh's remarks, Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of Chinese foreign ministry said that it was a confession of alleged encroachments by India.

Wenbin said, “This is an unwitting confession by the Indian side. For a long time, the Indian side has conducted frequent acts of trespass in the border area in an attempt to encroach on China’s territory and constantly created disputes and frictions, which is the root cause of the tensions at the China-India border.”

He also added, “We urge the Indian side to follow through on the consensus, agreements and treaties it reached with China, and uphold peace and stability in the border region with concrete actions."

Wenbin answered this question after the daily briefing ended. These remarks came in the backdrop of ongoing impasse or stand-off between India and China since may 2020 in eastern Ladakh.
