Yuvraj Singh is a household name in the world of Indian cricket. He has represented India in over 402 international matches scoring over 11,000 runs with 17 centuries, 148 wickets, and 137 catches. He also played a major part in India’s victory in the 2011 Cricket World Cup being named Man of the Match with 54 runs and 2 wickets. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that he was suffering from a brain tumor during the finals. Singh is a highly respected and is undoubtedly one of the most well known personalities in cricket, but he wasn’t very happy with his treatment in IPL.

The All-rounder was given the captaincy of the Kings XI Punjab cricket team. He played for the team from 2008 to 2011. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the semi finals in 2008 but failed to reach the top 4 in 2009. After leaving Kings XI Punjab, he went on to play for multiple teams which were the Pune Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians but he did not play for Punjab again.

Yuvi, as he is affectionately known, revealed in an Instagram interview with Nikhil Naz that he was not respected in the team at all and his views and opinions were often neglected. He claimed the environment to be unprofessional. Poor management of the team made him want to run away. He said that his views were not listened to, but when he left the team they bought all the players that he initially asked them for. He claimed to have never loved anything other than the team jersey while he was a part of them.

The teams has now been renamed to Punjab Kings, and has yet to win an IPL trophy.

Over his IPL career, Yuvraj Singh has scored 2750 runs over 132 matches, which include 13 half-centuries. He has also secured two hat tricks in bowling, which is taking out 3 batsmen consecutively.
