Watch Video: Hrithik Roshan 'almost killed' Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol on 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' set

You are right that everything about Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is iconic. Just that the cast's experiences on set may not have been as happy as they were a decade ago. This is because Hrithik Roshan nearly killed Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar while filming one of the scenes.


Apart from some trivia, the makers of the 2011 blockbuster show what went into making its "mantal bwoy" scene in a video posted by the Instagram handle of Zoya Akhtar's production banner, Tiger Baby Films.


Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, and Abhay Deol, as well as Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin, starred in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. When the trio is en route from Barcelona to Costa Brava, Hrithik's Arjun receives a job call, the "mantal bwoy" scene appears in the film.

According to Abhay in the video, the vehicle's driver, Hrithik Roshan, parked it on the side of the road but forgot to switch off the ignition. Farhan jumped out of the car in a panic as it started to fall into the gorge the moment he stepped out. “Hrithik almost killed me and Farhan before shooting this scene,” Abhay revealed.




He added, “Farhan was really fast. He jumped out immediately, and I sat there thinking I’m going to die now.” See video here.

Abhay Deol also stated in the video that he was averse about the "mantal bwoy" scene because it was inspired by a professor from Farhan and Zoya's Manekji school, which was a rival to his Jamnaben Hirachand Ambani School in Mumbai. Abhay finally agreed, and it went on to become one of the movie's most memorable scenes.

The production house’s handle wrote, “We make movies for the big screen, but the little stories that make up the big picture don't always make it. “Here's presenting our ‘Off The Record' sequence, in which cast and crew from the Tiger Baby clan tell us what went into making some of their best scenes, what their psychology was at the time, and why this particular scene would always be unforgettable to them” .
