West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee tonight have announced that she would sit on a dharna on April 13 to stage a protest against the Election Commission's latest order barring her from campaigning for 24-hours.

TMC supremo took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to announce her sit-in protest from 12pm onwards at the Gandhi Murti located in Kolkata.

"To protest against the undemocratic and unconstitutional decision of the Election Commission of India, I will sot on dharna tomorrow at Gandhi Murti, Kolkata from 12 noon," she tweeted.

Earlier in the evening, the Election Commission has restricted the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to campaign for the next 24 hours.

The ban has come into effect from 8 PM on Monday.

The order has come in light of the Cooch Behar violence incident alleging TMC supremo for instigating the mob to gherao CAPF during the fourth phase of polling.

In its order, the EC noted that Mamata Banerjee made "highly insinuating and provocative remark laden with the serious potential of the breakdown of law and order and thereby adversely affecting the election process".

The EC has denounced the statements of Mamata Banerjee and has advised her to refrain herself from using such statements while addressing public meeting while election code of conduct is in force.
