WB polling wrap up from booth capture, complaints lodgement to moving court threats

The second phase of West Bengal Assembly election polling has ended relatively in not so warm manner as certain instances of high drama was witnessed in Nandigram. Pertinently, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee, who was contesting from Nandigram, fortunate has been locked in the EVMs.

As per the reports, the state has registered 80.43% voter turnout by 5:30 pm. 

However, the hotly contested seat has reported a few sporadic instances of violence earlier in the day. TMC supremo Banerjee has also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of intimidating TMC voters and capturing polling booths too. Taking action on it, her party has lodged 63 complaints with the Election Commission of India to which the body did not react.

"We have lodged 63 complaints since morning but, no single action has been taken. We will move court over it. This is unacceptable. The EC is working as per Amit Shah's instructions," Mamata was quoted saying by an eminent news agency.

Banerjee added, "I apologize to my Election Commission for their silence. We have given so many letters [to the Commission] but they are one-sidedly supporting BJP candidates."

 The party has also filed a separate complaint with the Election Commission alleging that eight polling booths had captured by the BJP workers in the Moyna constituency.

She has also alleged Union Home Minister Amit Shah for "himself instructing" the CRPF, BSF, and other personnel to help only BJP and its goons.

While speaking to the media, she added, "I am showing ou 'V' for victory sign. I am sorry Election Commission and Amit Shah, please control your goons who are heckling woman journalists in rallies...I haven't seen such a bad election."

As per the TMC's allegations, BJP workers attempted to take control in the presence of CRPF personnel.

Earlier in the day, Mamata also rang up West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar to take cognizance of the matter as her former close aide Suvendu Adhikari of BJP contesting against her did not let TMC supporters cast their votes.
