On Monday midnight, FIR was registered against the veteran Akali Dal member Bikram Singh Majithia under section 25/27A/29 of the NDPS Act. It is expected that the leader may be arrested soon.
To this development, on Tuesday, Akali Dal supremo Prakash Singh Badal said that it is a conspiracy by the Channi-led government, as they don’t any matter. He further said that the Congress government has tried its best to arrest Badal and Majithia.
Mr Badal was quoted saying, “We were aware of this as so far, Channi government has changed three DGPs, you make have a look at the history, officials cannot change DGP as the present government did. The main aim behind this change was to arrest Badal and Majithia.”
“Earlier, they don’t have a reason to take any action therefore, they created this new controversy. If they want to arrest me, they can I’m ready…” he added. He further said, “The government is trying to take revenge, they have to pay back for this… It’s nothing, the government is trying to slouch SAD and Punjab.”
“They have filed many cases against me and my wife,” he then said. “Under my leadership, none of the Congress members has ever faced any problem. A Chief Minister shouldn’t work according to any political party and should work for people. Chief Minister belongs to all parties,” he added.
“We are ready and will fight in all possible ways,” SAD supremo concluded.

An FIR was registered against Akali Dal veteran on Monday midnight, by the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali. The FIR has been registered under section 25/27A/29 of the NDPS Act. It is expected that the leader may be arrested soon.
Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu took to Twitter to announce the development. In a series of tweets, Sidhu said, “After 5.5 Years of the fight against Corrupt System run by Badal Family & Captain and delay of 4 years without action taken on ED & STF Report against Majithia. Finally now, after pushing for credible officers in positions of power and influence first step has been taken!”
“An FIR has been registered in Punjab Police Crime Branch against the main culprits of Drug Trade on basis of February 2018 STF report, wherein I demanded this 4 years ago - It is a slap on the face of all those powerful who slept for years on issues at the heart of Punjab’s soul,” he further wrote.
He added, “Justice will not be served until main culprits behind Drug Mafia are given exemplary punishment, this is merely the first step, Will fight till punishment is given which acts as a deterrent for generations. We must choose honest & righteous & shun drug traffickers & their protectors.”
