Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav visited Amritsar after a veteran Hindu leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead by a gun-borne assailant in broad daylight amidst heavy police deployment earlier today.

Visiting the sight to review the status of the investigation into the horrific killing of the Shiv Sena leader along with his team, DGP Yadav interacted with the media persons over the unfortunate killing and addressed a wide range of matters.

While answering the media’s question, DGP Yadav said that the team deployed will investigate every single aspect of the killing and will take the action based on the evidence they receive over the course of time.

Marking the incident as unfortunate, DGP Yadav said we are hell-bent on ensuring peace and harmony in the state and will nab the perpetrators at the earliest. The site where the incident took place was sealed and has been investigated thoroughly by the forensic team.

Making an appeal through the media persons present at the spot, DGP Yadav said, “It is my humble appeal to each and every one of you to not fall for the fake news and don’t trust any non-credible sources over the matter.”

Over the question of a journalist on Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh's conspiracy in Suri's killing, DGP Yadav said we are investigating all the possible angles in the case and will comment based on the successive phases of our investigation ahead.

Addressing further he informed that Punjab Police has deployed the cyber unit on duty to keep a sharp vigil over those spreading fake news over the matter. Anyone found treating the incident in a casual manner and sharing any non-credible information over social media will be dealt with accordingly and will be put to order.

Sharing the information about the 31-years-old assailant who fired 5 shots at Suri, DGP Yadav said the man owns a garment shop. He appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain law and order in the state.

“The people of Punjab have defeated terrorism and are peace-loving, I sincerely urge you to maintain the status of law and order and have trust in us we will not let any force hinder the state’s security status,” DGP Yadav added in his short address.
