Wear mask, otherwise pay fine and undergo Covid-19 test: Jalandhar DC warns mask violators

Now people not wearing masks have to undergo a Covid-19 test along with a penalty of Rs. 1000 as Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday directed police and health authorities to integrate challaning and testing drives together.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said keeping in view the spike in new cases; it has become even more essential to adopt Covid appropriate behavior strictly.

In order to check violation of these norms especially wearing masks, the joint Nakas of police and health teams would be formed across the district. He mentioned that those not wearing masks have to undergo a Covid-19 test besides paying penalty for their act.

Mr. Thori categorically mentioned that implementation of Covid appropriate behavior is a key to stem the spread of virus and those not adhering to these guidelines have to be dealt with a heavy hand.  

The deputy commissioner stated the district administration has already appointed monitors and nodal officers to check gatherings in marriage palaces and banquet halls so that the ceiling of 100 and 200 persons for indoor and outdoor events could be maintained properly.

Further, the district has already enforced all protocols strictly and heavy penalties were imposed on the violators. He further appealed to people to follow all guidelines so that the virus could be kept at bay because this is the high-time to implement the protocol for keeping virus spread under check.
