One-day Webinar at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University on“Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management” was organized by theDepartment of Computer Science and Engineering, University Institute ofEngineering and Technology, under the aegis of IQAC and IIC, here today.

The main objective of this workshop was to makeparticipants familiar with the Intellectual Property Rights, Copyright, Trademarkand Patent Filing process. It has gained a special importance for all thedomains of socio-economic development.

The resource person for the webinar, Dr Abhinandan Bassi,Assistant Professor, Law department at Regional Gandhi National University ofLaw, Punjabcovered various topics like what is Intellectual property,Introduction to Patent, Contents and process of Patent filing, Copyright,Trademark, and E-filing/physical filing.

The session was conducted to cover the technical aspectswith well-known examples. Further, the role of Patenting was very wellelaboratedthrough case studies. One such being, put forth in CNBC.com, wherePfizer CEO, Albert Bourla warned that waiving patent protection for COVIDvaccine would setoff worldwide race for raw materials, which would threatensafe and efficient manufacturing of COVID shots.

This workshop helped the participants to get insight intothe intellectual property rights, detail process of Copyright, Trademark,Patent filing, IP Management and its role in Start-ups. The workshop receivedhighly enthusiastic response from about 100 participants.

During Q&A session, participants came up with their queries, which were very well addressed by the Resource person. Dr. Jagdeep Kaur, Associate Professor, Coordinator CSE and Dy. Dean UIET, gave vote of Thanks to the Resource person for sparing her valuable time to address the students of the university on much needed area of IPR and IP Management. She further thanked the entire SBBSU fraternity for their endless support.
