
Patting the workers of Vardhman Special Steels Limited(VSSL) and Weltech Equipment and Infrastructure (WEI) for exhibiting exemplarycourage and determination while generating oxygen round the clock to saveprecious lives from Covid-19, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma andCommissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Wednesday saluted their indomitablespirit and described them ‘Oxygen Yodha’ in the ongoing war against aninvisible enemy.
Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police especiallyreached in the premises of both industries and thanked the workers and theirmanagement and said Punjab government and the district administrationacknowledges their endeavour against infectious disease due to which severalprecious lives are being or would be saved.
Quoting "Never was so much owed by so many to sofew" was a wartime speech made by the British Prime Minister WinstonChurchill on August 20, 1940, Deputy Commissioner said that the people ofLudhiana would ever remain indebted to the selfless services rendered by theworkers and their contribution would save precious lives from the pandemic.
They told that some parts of the country are struggling toget oxygen and even several lost their lives but in Ludhiana, you all (workers)are working round the clock and even doing overtime for producing life-savinggas for the Covid-19 patients.
They said that administration and people of Ludhiana bow tothem and would be always grateful. Later, they also handed over appreciationcertificates among the workers.
Both Varinder Kumar Sharma and Rakesh Agrawal also went toCivil Hospital, DMCH, CMCH and other institutions and said all the doctors/nursingstaff/wardattendants/helpers/ambulance drivers are the realheroes who have been playing a vanguard role to keep the pandemic at bay. Theyexpressed hope that they would continue to perform exceptionally well until thewar against contagion is not won.
