Just a few days after meeting Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh, the former Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday met Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Delhi.

After meeting with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Delhi on Friday, Cricketer-turned-Politician Navjot Sidhu once again took to twitter to share his sentiments. In his tweet, Navjot Sidhu wrote, “Hunar Hoga Toh Dunia Kadar Kregi, Aediya Udhane se Kirdar Ucchee nhi Hote” (If the skill is there, the world will appreciate, Characters are not elevated by lifting heels).

“Though we cannot judge what Sidhu was hinting about in his recent tweets, however, we all want Sidhu to be part of the Punjab Congress. He has sought some time on deciding on joining back, and we are hopeful, he may join anytime soon”, said sources close to Navjot Sidhu.

Meanwhile, Sidhu’s meeting with Priyanka yesterday has once again reaffirmed that Congress top leadership is keen on getting Sidhu back to the mainstream politics ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls.

It was on March 18 during the high-level press conference in Chandigarh, when questions were raised on speculation that Sidhu would seek the post of Deputy Chief Minister or PPCC president, CM Capt Amarinder Singh said that the decision will be taken by the party president, not me or Sunil Jakhar. He then also added that “If Sidhu wants my job, he can have it.”

Sources informed that by March 31, the air surrounding Sidhu’s post would be clear as Punjab affairs in charge and AICC general secretary Harish Rawat, has reached Chandigarh on March 19, and will be meeting both CM Captain Amarinder and Navjot Sidhu.

“Though we are expecting a cabinet reshuffle, and that Sidhu would be given a department of his choice. However, if he (Sidhu) chooses to be back on the same position at which he left, he would definitely try to seek an assurance from the party high command regarding better post in the party or government after the Assembly polls,” said a senior leader.
