Before the start of the India vs England 1st Test, BCCI issued an official statement saying that Virat Kohli had pulled out from the first two Tests of the five-match series. BCCI clarified that Virat Kohli pulled out from the two matches due to unavoidable reasons which required his presence physically.  Notably, BCCI had already requested fans and media portals not to speculate about Virat Kohli's absence reason and respect his privacy, still a few reports stated that the cricketer pulled out of the matches due to her mother's sickness. Now, the question arises what happened to Virat Kohli's mother?

The answer is nothing. Virat Kohli's brother Vikas Kohli took to his Instagram handle and clarified that their mother's health is totally fit and fine. "Hello everyone! I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom's health been circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also, I would request everyone, and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information. Thanks everyone for your concern."

 

Notably, it was initially rumored that Virat Kohli requested a break from the first two Tests against England due to his mother's illness. However, there were no official updates confirming this reason.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that Team India cricketer Kohli is likely to return to the test squad from the India vs England third Test. 

 

 

BCCI's statement on Virat Kohli's absence

 

Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons.

 

Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.

 

The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter and is confident in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series.

 

The BCCI requests the media and fans to respect Virat Kohli's privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons. The focus should remain on supporting the Indian cricket team as they embark on the upcoming challenges in the Test series.
