
Azim Premji has offered an idea to vaccinate 50 crorepeople in just 60 days. The WIPRO founder and a philanthropist urged theFinance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman to engage with private sector forspeeding up the vaccination efforts against Covid-19.
According to Premji, by engaging with private sector,India could vaccinate 50 crore people in two months.
Premji said, "I think if the government was toengage the private industry quickly, we can rest assured that we can achieve acoverage of 500 million people within 60 days."
As he participated in the Bangalore Chamber of Industryand Commerce, he said it was a practicality. He added that by adding privatesector, the vaccination efforts will get a big boost.
Premji is of the view that after making the vaccines inrecord time, the next challenge is to administer the vaccines to large numberof people.
Premji was quoted by India Today, "There is apossibility that we can get the Serum Institute to supply vaccine at about Rs300 per shot, and hospitals, private nursing homes can administer this at acost of Rs 100 per shot. So with 400 rupees a shot, it is possible to do massvaccination of the population."
