Uttarakhand is going through turmoil with people raging over the Ankita Bhandari Case. Angered by the Ankita Bhandari case, people have taken the streets and demanded justice for the 19-year-old receptionist who was murdered for not accepting to give provide sexual services to a BJP leader's son's clients. On September 23, 2022, Friday, Pulkit Arya, the son of former BJP minister Vinod Arya, and three others were arrested by the Uttarakhand police for murdering Ankita, who worked as a receptionist at a resort in the Laxman Jhula area. 19-year-old, Ankita used to work as a receptionist at the Vanantra Resort which was reportedly owned by Pulkit Arya who has been named as the 'main accused' in the case.

After things unfolded, three people including Vanatara Resort owner Arya were arrested in connection with the alleged killing of Ankita Bhandari, who had gone missing about six days ago. Reportedly, Ankita Bhandari hailed from Srikot village in Pauri Garhwal district, and was recently hired as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort on the banks of Ganga in Rishikesh. Firstpost reported that Pulkit Arya had tried to make a pass at her and was forcing her to provide sexual services to clients, which she refused. Later, she went missing under 'mysterious circumstances'. On Saturday, Ankita Bhandari's body was fished out from Rishikesh's Chilla canal. Notably, Pulkit Arya, resort owner and son of Uttarakhand BJP leader Vinod Arya, along with two others were arrested on Friday for pushing Bhandari into the canal. As per Uttarakhand Police, the accused confessed to having pushed Ankita into the Chilla canal after a dispute and she drowned.

After the shameful incident, Uttarakhand Special Principal Secretary to the CM Abhinav Kumar on Friday was quoted by a newswire saying that the Pulkit Arya-owned resort demolition is underway. He said that the demolition of the resort concerned is being done on the orders of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Notably, with the action against Pulkit Arya, the son of former Uttarakhand Minister and BJP leader Vinod Arya, CM Dhami has sent a clear message that no accused will be spared.

Twitter user Anshul Saxena shared the Vanantra Resort demolition video with the caption, "Uttarakhand: Illegal construction at Vanantra resort demolished by bulldozer in Ganga Bhogpur Talla. Accused Pullkit Arya, son of BJP leader, is owner of resort. Accused Saurabh Bhaskar, Ankit Gupta are workers of resort. Receptionist Ankita Bhandari was killed & thrown in canal (SIC)"

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami called the Ankita Bhandari murder case 'unfortunate' and ensured the people that 'strictest' punishment will be given. "It's unfortunate. Police is working, they have done their work for making the arrests. Strictest punishment would be given for such heinous crimes, whoever be the criminal: Uttarakhand CM PS Dhami on a 19-yr-old girl in Rishikesh who went missing under suspicious circumstances," said Uttarakhand CM.

Furthermore, CM Dhammi announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident. "The body of daughter Ankita was recovered this morning. I am deeply pained by this heartbreaking incident,” Dhami tweeted on Saturday. “In order to ensure the strictest punishment for the culprits, an SIT has been formed under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Renuka Devi ji and ordered an in-depth investigation of this serious matter."
