Indian American Democrat Shrina Kurani will be running for the US House of Representatives from Congressional District in Inland Empire in Southern California. She is challenging 15-term Republican Ken Calvert representing the 42nd Congressional District in California for the mid-term elections in November 2022.

"I'm running for Congress to make things work better in Washington so we can build a sustainable future and an Inland Empire where people feel safe, healthy, and have the opportunity to thrive in satisfying professions," said Kurani on Thursday.

What Ms. Kurani is aiming at?

  • Sustainable food and water solutions.
  • New approach towards sustainable future.
  • Better employment opportunities
  • Reducing wastage
  • Equal and fair startup funding for women and people of colour.
  • Making healthcare and education more affordable, accessible, equitable, and effective.

What does she have to say?

Describing herself as an engineer and entrepreneur, Shrina was born in Riverside to Indian immigrant parents. On her website, she says she is a fact-based problem solver and not a politician.

"Opportunities are out of reach for far too many people," she added taking a dig at her rival, "while career Washington politicians like Ken Calvert are focused on benefiting themselves, their political parties, and their corporate donors."

She went on to say that "Ken Calvert has been in Washington for over 30 years, and he has consistently voted against our interests. It's time to try something new.”

"I'm running for Congress in California's 42nd Congressional District! It is time for fact solutions and bold action,” she stated.

"I've spent my career building businesses that reduce waste while also creating high-quality employment. I'm running for Congress to improve the way things work in Washington", Kurani added.
