Who is Oliver Mulherin?

 

Sam Altman's boyfriend Oliver Mulherin is a private person. He has made his social media profile strictly private. However, reports suggest that Oliver Mulherin is a software engineer from Australia. He studied computer science at the University of Melbourne and has been working since 2014. He had worked with Meta for two years before resigning in November 2022. Oliver Mulherin has also worked for the IOTA Foundation and SPARK Neuro. 

 

Although Altman likes to keep everything under wraps, in one of his interviews, the Open AI CEO was quoted saying that Mulherin loves big families and the couple plan to have children soon.

Notably, Altman and Oliver made their first public appearance during PM Modi's state dinner along with US President Joe Biden at the White House. Altman's wedding was strictly an intimate affair with only a handful of their relatives attending the marriage.

Before his marriage, Sam went through turmoil after he was fired from Open AI. ChatGPT on November 17 last year announced that Sam Altman has been sacked. Greg Brockman and three other senior executives of the firm resigned in solidarity, causing a scuffle on the board. However, days later, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Altman is being hired as the head of an AI research program in the firm. However, OpenAI employees threatened to resign if Altman was reinstated at the top post. Therefore, Altman was rehired as the CEO. 

 

It was stated that board members of the company said that Altman and top management had differences over his opinions on AI security, saying that the CEO had not been "completely candid" with the board.
