In the meanwhile, while many countries have started to inspire youths to come into politics, Thailand has chosen its youngest-ever Prime Minister. At the age of 37, Paetongtarn Shinawatra is the youngest Prime Minister of Thailand. Now, the question arises who is Thailand's youngest PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra and what is her take on India? Who is Paetongtarn Shinawatra?

Paetongtarn Shinawatra was sworn in as Thailand's PM on Sunday. The 37-year-old was endorsed by Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Paetongtarn Shinawatra became Thailand's PM days after the Constitutional Court removed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin within a year of his assuming charge after the court found him guilty of a serious ethical breach.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra belongs to a political dynasty founded by her billionaire father, Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted by a military coup in 2006. Paetongtarn Shinawatra's father returned to Thailand last year when his party formed the government.

As per reports, becoming the PM of Thailand, Paetongtarn Shinawatra was a business executive. The 37-year-old is the fourth member of the Shinawatra clan to become Prime Minister in the past two decades. The other three, including her father Thaksin, and aunt Yingluck, were deposed by military coups or constitutional court rulings. 

Talking about Paetongtarn Shinawatra's educational qualification, she studied at elite schools in Thailand and a university in the UK. Paetongtarn Shinawatra spent some years working at the Shinawatra family's Rende hotel group, where her husband serves as deputy chief investment officer. Thereafter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra joined Pheu Thai in 2021 and was appointed party leader in October 2023.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra's take on India

Notably, Indian PM Narendra Modi extended his greetings to Paetongtarn Shinawatra after she became Thailand's new PM. The 37-year-old wrote, "I look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen our bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade and investment, culture, people-to-people contact, and tourism, in particular to increase air travel between both countries. I am confident that we can build upon our existing ties and explore untapped potentials to create even greater opportunities for our two countries, peoples, and beyond.."
