The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday has excluded projecting any Chief Ministerial candidate in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections which is due in April-May.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP General Secretary and West Bengal in-charge told news agency ANI, "No chief ministerial face will be projected. After securing the majority, the party leadership and MLAs will decide who will become the chief minister.”

Earlier Vijayvargiya had claimed that at least 41 MLAs of Mamata's party were in touch with him and are ready to leave TMC, adding that if he allows all these TMC MLAs to join BJP, the Trinamool government in West Bengal will collapse.

However, only those party workers with a clean image and reputation will have the permit to be associated with BJP, he said.

"I have a list of 41 MLAs who want to join the BJP. The Bengal government will collapse if I let them in. We are exploring their background and only leaders with a clean image would be allowed to join. Everyone believes that the Mamata government is going out," he had said.

IAS officers Smaraki Mahapatra and Sanghamitra Ghosh, appointed as the joint chief electoral officer and additional chief electoral officer, will be there in the state for two days today,  to review the poll preparedness.

On Wednesday night, a full bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, will arrive in the WB on a two-day visit.

The WB 2021 elections battleground is heating day by day, as BJP and TMC have begun attacking each other with not only words but also by interrupting and creating violence during the party rallies.

While CM Mamata Banerjee has announced her decision of contesting the elections from her luck place Nandigram and declared her rule again in the state, on the other side BJP Bengal Chief Dilip Ghosh has said they will wipe Bengal of TMC and Mamata and bring development in the state.

Mamata’s ex-aide Suvendu Adhikari who will also be contesting from the same constituency for BJP is balming Mamata of being selfish and accused her that she remembers Nandigram only during elections.
