World Blood Donor Day: Jalandhar DC inaugurates Blood Donation Camp by donating blood

He said that more and more people, especially the youngsters, should come forward to donate blood and become active partners in this noble cause

To mark the world blood donor day's fortnight, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday donated blood in a camp organized at Red Cross Society, Jalandhar.

 Presiding over the event, the DC described the Blood Donation as the real service of humanity as it could save millions of lives. Addressing the donors after inaugurating a Blood Donation Camp to mark World Blood Donor Day in Red Cross Bhawan, Mr. Thori said that Blood donors were the real heroes as they play a key role in helping the people in need. He said that more and more people, especially the youngsters, should come forward to donate blood and become active partners in this noble cause in the prevailing conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this was the need of an hour to strengthen the blood banks and make the country healthy especially amid this unprecedented health crisis arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that blood donation was the biggest service that an individual could render to the society as it could help in saving many precious lives.

The DC said that every youth must realize that every blood donor was a hero and they should regularly donate blood after every three months to ensure sufficient stocks of blood needed for routine and emergency treatment.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also talked with the donors and handed over appreciation certificates to them during the function. On the occasion, Secretary Red Cross Society Inderjeet Singh Minhas, and others were present.
