To mark the world blood donor day's fortnight, DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday donated blood in a camp organized atRed Cross Society, Jalandhar.

 Presiding over the event, the DC described theBlood Donation as the real service of humanity as it could save millions oflives. Addressing the donors after inaugurating a Blood Donation Camp to markWorld Blood Donor Day in Red Cross Bhawan, Mr. Thori said that Blood donorswere the real heroes as they play a key role in helping the people in need. Hesaid that more and more people, especially the youngsters, should come forwardto donate blood and become active partners in this noble cause in theprevailing conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this was the needof an hour to strengthen the blood banks and make the country healthy especiallyamid this unprecedented health crisis arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic. He saidthat blood donation was the biggest service that an individual could render tothe society as it could help in saving many precious lives.

The DC said that every youth must realize thatevery blood donor was a hero and they should regularly donate blood after everythree months to ensure sufficient stocks of blood needed for routine andemergency treatment.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also talked withthe donors and handed over appreciation certificates to them during thefunction. On the occasion, Secretary Red Cross Society Inderjeet Singh Minhas,and others were present.
