World Health Assembly under lens as health experts across globe demand probe into China link to Covid-19 origin

After the report by US intelligence, all eyes are on the meeting of the World Health Assembly (WHA) over the growth of coronavirus from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology. The WHA is also expected to contemplate a world pandemic treaty to make it legally binding on nations to forestall any future pandemic outbreak.

USA intelligence report had claimed that three researchers from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) were hospitalized in November 2019, a month before the Covid-19 outbreak, having similar symptoms as the symptoms of coronavirus. After the submission of the report, the claim related to the leaking of coronavirus from China’s lab has reinforced.

It is expected that an intergovernmental executive committee may also be formed during the WHA’s meeting. The work of the committee would be to investigate future pandemics, it can be termed as a global pandemic treaty.

Diplomats based in Geneva has said that during this meeting WHO experts can highlight to initiate the second phase of investigation on the origin of the Covid-19 virus.

The World Health Organization has submitted a report related to the origin of the virus. The report was concluded with the fact that the virus has been transferred from bats to human beings.

A statement from the letter written by the WHO scientist who visited Wuhan in February, “Theories of accidental release from a lab and zoonotic spillover from animals to hums both remain viable, more investigation is needed to determine the origin of pandemic.”
