18-year-old Tarn Taran Volleyball player killed with sharp weapon, Police launch investigation

In a disturbing development, an 18-year-old volleyball player, Vivekbir Singh, hailing from the village Thatha in Tarn Taran district, was brutally killed with sharp-edged weapons. Vivekbir Singh's murder reportedly occurred following a minor altercation with a fellow villager. According to initial reports, Vivekbir Singh, son of Shamsher Singh and a student of Class 11, had an argument with a local youth earlier. Angry at this, the accused allegedly attacked Vivekbir while he was in Sarhali’s grain market on some personal errand.

As per the police official, it is possible that Vivekbir Singh was attacked by 5-6 youths. Vivekbir, known in the area for his talent in volleyball, sustained critical injuries in the assault. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his cousin and other relatives, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon receiving information about the incident, officials from Sarhali Police Station, including DSP Lovkesh, reached the crime scene and took custody of the body. A case has been registered, and the investigation is underway based on statements provided by the victim’s family. Police have sent the body for a postmortem, which is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday.
