
Jalandhar,January 22- Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday participated in thefull dress rehearsal to mark the Republic Day celebrations in the local GuruGobind Singh Stadium.
Duringthe full dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner unfurled the national flagand took a salute from the impressive march past led by parade commander youngIPS officer Jyoti Yadav.
TheDeputy Commissioner gave the necessary directions to the forces and theofficers regarding the fool-proof preparations for the mega event in whichSocial Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary wouldunfurl the national tri-color.
Thorireiterated the firm commitment of the administration to observe this mega eventin an unprecedented manner.
Hesaid that the preparations for this mega event were going on in full swing andevery effort would be made to make sure that auspicious day was celebrated withfull patriotic and nationalistic fervor.
TheDeputy Commissioner further said that the officers have been assigned dutiesregarding the event and any sort of callousness in this duty was unwarrantedand undesirable.
Hestated that this time the district level 72nd Republic Day function this yearwould be a low key affair in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that as perthe government's guidelines this time gathering would be limited and thefunction would be kept simple.
Onthe occasion, DCP Arun Saini, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SubDivisional Magistrates Rahul Sindhu, Dr. Jai Inder Singh, AssistantCommissioner Hardeep Singh, and others were present.
