Hooliganism seems to have increased in Jalandhar despite the police’s numerous warnings to the miscreants. In a shocking development, youth was brutally beaten by drug peddlers for stopping them from selling drugs. Firstly, he was attacked at the residence and then in the Civil Hospital where the victim went for treatment. Police have information about the case but have not taken any action till now.
Reportedly, the victim identified as Monu Sharma who is a resident of Sher Singh Colony of Yuvak Basti Bawa Khel was brutally beaten up by the drug peddlers. Post this when he went for treatment to the Civil Hospital, the miscreants came there attacked him again and also chopped off one of his ears. Monu alleged that police were right there in the Civil Hospital watching the incident like spectators but did not take any action. He also stated that before this also he has complained about the dug peddlers many times to the police.
The victim also added that the families living Sher Singh Colony of Yuvak Basti Bawa Khel are also almost every day troubled by these miscreants. He alleged that many cases have been registered against the drug peddlers but no one seems to take any action against them.
This is not for the first time that a case like this has surfaced in Punjab. Earlier in September also, a video went viral from Amritsar when a youth was beaten to death for stopping drug peddlers. 2 drug smugglers thrashed the youth with sticks and other sharp weapons so badly that he lost his life.
