Team India former cricketer Yuvraj Singh late Friday night broke his silence after multiple reports suggested that he will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Reports suggested that Yuvraj Singh is in talks with the BJP to contest Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from the Gurdaspur seat. Since Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has decided not to contest elections and focus on his film career, the saffron party is mulling to field Team India's World Cup hero from the Gurdaspur constituency. However, Yuvraj Singh on Friday totally denied the reports. Below is what Yuvraj Singh wrote-

"Contrary to media reports, I'm not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation @YOUWECAN. Let's continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities," wrote Yuvraj Singh on X.

The speculations of Yuvraj Singh contesting from Gurdaspur intensified after the former India cricketer, along with his mother Shabnam Singh, recently met Union minister Nitin Gadkari. The BJP's history of parachuting celebrity candidates from Gurdaspur also helped the rumours mills around Yuvraj Singh's candidature go into overdrive.

A few days back, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann reportedly slammed Sunny Deol over his "absence" from the constituency and reminded him that politics meant serving and being available to the people round the clock. Targeting the actor-turned-politician Deol, Punjab CM alleged that despite being elected from Gurdaspur, the BJP MP is not aware of the basic topography of Pathankot.
