On January 5, the makers dropped the official trailer of Freedom at Midnight Season 2. Going by the trailer, Freedom at Midnight Season 2 will showcase the tense politics when India was about to be divided into two parts i.e. India and Pakistan.
In the trailer, Sardar Patel can be seen saying that he wants to merge all 565 Princely States to India during or after partition. Now, the question arises how many princely states that were merged with India and how many did Pakistan took over?
According to reports, only 3 Prince States have become part of Pakistan. They are Bahawalpur, Khairpur, and Kalat.
According to reports, during partition times, Bahawalpur was Muslim-majority state. It acceded to Pakistan in October 1947 after negotiations. It fully merged by 1955.
Khairpur is in Sindh region. It was also a Muslim-ruled state. It joined Pakistan in late 1947 under ruler Mir George Ali Murad Talpur II.
Kalat (including Makran, Kharan, Las Bela) that forms modern Balochistan, initially sought independence but now part of Pakistan. However, in today's time, people of Balochistan are fighting for their freedom against Pakistan.
Notably, Pakistan has also illegally occupied some parts of Kashmir that belongs to India. Jammu & Kashmir was also a princely state.
