What happened to Shazia after the Supreme Court's verdict?

After Supreme Court's verdict went in favour of Shazia i.e. Shah Bano (in real life), multiple Islamic outfits pressured the Central Government to rule over the Supreme Court's verdict.

Shah Bano's youngest son Jameel Ahmed in an interview published in 2017 by The Quint stated that they were invited by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. At that time (2017) Jameel was 67-years-old and was a realty agent.

Jameel stated that after the verdict by Supreme Court, Shah Bano got an invitation from Rajiv Gandhi (then Prime Minister)

"He wanted to meet my mother and so I had accompanied my mother to Delhi."

Recalling his meeting with Rajiv Gandhi, Jameel Ahmad said, "Rajiv ji said that the situation was very critical. He asked us to refuse the maintenance. He spent around 15 minutes with us."

Ultimately, the Rajiv Gandhi government passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986, to nullify the ruling and limit maintenance to the iddat period.
