With each passing day, India's OTT game is getting bigger and better. This can be understood by the fact that recently, an Indian web series that was released on Netflix topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV list.
The name of the series is Taskaree The Smuggler's Web. Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi on January 21 took to his Instagram handle and shared a video with the caption that reads, "Thank you fans ...for making Taskaree the first Indian title to reach #1 on Netflix’s Global Non-English Top 10 list !"
Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web was released on Netflix on January 14, 2026 and as expectedly it has become the most watched web series of the week in India.
Directed by Raghav Jairath, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web revolves around a team of Custom officers posted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport aka Mumbai Airport.
The series revolve around a team of Custom officers led by Superintendent Arjun Meena played Emraan Hashmi.
Created by Neeraj Pandey, the series starts with AC Prakash Kumar joining the Customs at Mumbai Airport and reinstating a bunch of suspended officers including Arjun Meena, Ravinder Gujjar, and Mitali Kamath. They have only one job i.e. to stop smuggling from Mumbai Airport.
Notably, it means Taskaree has left behind many top Netflix series like Sacred Games, Heeramandi, etc.
According to Ormax Media report that counted viewership between January 12 to January 18, Taskaree enjoyed a viewership of 3.4 million.
