The answer is yes. The makers have clearly mentioned that Salakaar is inspired by true events that revolve around a R&AW Spy who once lived in Pakistan and then went onto become India's National Security Advisor.
Sounds familiar? Yes, Salakaar Real Story is said to be inspired by India's current National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Mouni Roy plays the character of Maryam aka Srishti. Maryam is a RAW agent involved in a mission to stop a Pakistani Colonel’s nuclear ambitions. Just like the entire series, the character of Maryam operates across two timelines: 1978 and 2025.
Notably, the makers have not revealed that the character of Maryam is inspired by real life woman RAW agent who infiltrated Pakistan's nuclear program.
As per reports, India's secret service RAW established a network of operatives within Pakistan to track rumors about its nuclear ambitions.
Direct infiltration of the Kahuta plant was not possible, so RAW agents used unique techniques. The agents collected hair samples from barber shops used by nuclear scientists near Kahuta. These samples, when analyzed, showed elevated radiation levels, confirming that Pakistan was enriching uranium to weapons-grade quality.
RAW agents even said that they can arrange blue print of the Pakistani nuclear facility. However, it is said that then (PM) Morarji Desai revealed to Pakistan’s leaders that India was aware of the secret program. This sparked Pakistan launching an operation to kill RAW agents.
