In February 2012 when Congress was in power, an attack was carried out on Israeli diplomats. As per reports, a bomb exploded in an Israeli diplomat car in New Delhi injuring one embassy staff member, a local employee and two passers-by. Not only this, but another bomb was planted in a car in Tbilisi, Georgia, but it failed to explode and was defused by Georgian police.
A motorcyclist attached a sticky bomb to the car of the wife of the Israeli defence attache to India while she was on her way to pick up her children from school. She had sustained moderate injuries that required surgery to remove shrapnel.
As part of investigation it was decided that a team of Delhi Police will send a team to Tehran to seek cooperation from their counterparts in its probe into the February 13 bombing of an Israeli embassy vehicle.
Tehran had conveyed its willingness to assist Delhi Police in its probe after the role of four Iranian nationals surfaced in the bombing that took place barely 500 metres away from the high-security residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Delhi Police had named Houshang Afshar as the main accused who had planted a bomb on the vehicle of Israeli diplomat.
