In a tragic incident, a car carrying 11 people fell into the Sirhind Canal near the Bahiman Bridge in Bathinda. Fortunately, the people were saved by a PCR team of the Punjab Police.
According to the reports, all eleven people belonged to one family, and out of all, five were children. How the car fell into the canal is not well-known as of now, and all the family members are seeking medical treatment in a government hospital.
On-duty physician at the government hospital - Dr Harshit Goyal mentioned that all the passengers are stable and the treatment for all is underway. While sharing the current health status, they stated, “Eleven people, including five children, were brought for treatment. One child has been admitted, but the rest have been kept under observation for a few hours.”
Following this act of bravery, DCP Gaurav Yadav has announced that this brave team of PCR will be awarded the Director General Commendation Disc and cash worth Rs 25,000.
Along with this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also praised the team and assured that they will meet this brave PCR team tomorrow morning. CM Mann will be meeting the personnel personally and will honor their spirit.
After the family members were taken out of the canal, the car was pulled out with the help of a crane.
A local, who helped the team to protect the family members, Gulab Singh shared a glimpse of the incident and mentioned, “The car fell into the canal with a loud noise. I ran to the spot and started pulling the passengers from the water. Risking their own lives, many people joined in the rescue work, and the passengers were helped out of the canal one after another. Unfortunately, there were some people who kept making videos without offering any help.”
