

A serious incident from Jalandhar’s Rainak Bazaar area was reported. It was informed that a 12-year-old girl went missing from the school. The situation was elaborated to the police and the investigation is underway. The family informed that 4 children went to the school together, 3 entered and 1 went missing
Series of events
While talking to Pooja Devi, girl’s mother, four children had left their home together on Monday morning around 7:45 AM to attend school. While three of the children safely entered the Government High Smart School in Rainak Bazaar, her daughter, a Class 5 student, disappeared before reaching the school premises. The incident came to light when the family was informed by school authorities that the girl had not attended classes that day.
Primary search of the girl
Upon receiving the missing report of their child, the family started checking the neighborhood area and locality thinking she might have delayed the school. Finding no evidence of the child, they rushed to the school to seek clarification and called the police.
Statements by the school
The school administration informed them that the girl had never entered the campus, leaving the family deeply concerned about her whereabouts. The family immediately reported the matter to the police, following which officers reached the school and began an investigation. The school authorities clarified that the school would have taken responsibility if the girl would have entered the school premises. She also added that the school teacher herself questioned the parents of the child not attending the class. It was informed that it was the first day of these children attending classes after summer vacation. She did not even inform her brother who studies in 4th grade about not attending the class.
Police investigation
Providing details of the investigation, ASI Raj Kumar said police received information that four children from Ali Mohalla had left home together for school. During the preliminary inquiry, it was established that while three children entered the school as usual, the 12-year-old girl did not reach inside the school gate. Police have since started examining CCTV footage from cameras installed around the school, nearby streets, and surrounding markets. According to initial findings, the girl was seen turning back before entering the school gate. Investigators are now trying to determine where she went afterward and whether she was accompanied by anyone.
Public appeal
The family has appealed to the public to share any information that could help locate the missing girl. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to immediately contact the nearest police station.
