In a proud moment for Jalandhar, a 40-year-old man from village Lambra, Chinder Pal, recently won a whopping Rs 50 lakh on the famous Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The show is hosted by Megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Chinder Pal decided to quit the show on Rs 1 crore question in order to secure his winning amount.

What was Chinder Pal asked on Rs 1 crore question?

Chinder Pal was asked- Before becoming the head of the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India, George Everest surveyed which island between 1814–1816?

Options were Jeju, Jamaica, Jersey, and Java.

The correct answer was Java.

Chinder Pal dedicates his success to his wife

During the show, when Amitabh Bachchan asked him the secret of his success, he emotionally credited his wife.

Chinder Pal said, "My wife transformed my life after marriage. I am what I am because of her." Amitabh Bachchan also praised his wife.

Chinder Pal has studied up to 12th grade. Since childhood, he had a dream of meeting Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, and that dream finally come true at KBC.

Chinder Pal revealed that he has long watched KBC with his family. Whenever questions were asked on TV, he would explain his answers to his family members. Gradually, his passion for the show grew so much that in 2020, he decided to apply.

When Amitabh Bachchan asked the first question on the show, it was image-based. Four pictures were shown and he was asked which of these objects could be used to hammer a nail into a wall.

Chinder Pal immediately gave the correct answer, a hammer. Amitabh Bachchan laughed and said, "This was a question for you."

Jalandhar man's passion for KBC

By 2021, Chinder Pal's passion had grown so much that he would scan codes on soft drink bottles to practice answers at home.

Later, he would pick up empty bottles from the street and scan them. This struggle continued for years. He said that whenever he had free time from work, he would study. He learned most of geography by watching Khan Sir's videos on YouTube.

Chinder Pal's KBC audition

After numerous attempts, he finally received a call for the first audition for Kaun Banega Crorepati on May 31, 2025. The problem was that he had to go to Mumbai, but couldn't get a train ticket.

He borrowed Rs 15,000 from a friend, bought a flight ticket, and reached Mumbai. The audition consisted of 20 general knowledge questions, of which he impressed everyone by answering 19 correctly.

Subsequently, on June 20, 2025, he received a call from the KBC team to participate in the show, and he received the biggest opportunity of his life.

He will use the winnings to secure the future of his children and family.

Chinder Pal comes from a middle-class family. His family consists of nine members: his wife, two sons, a brother and sister-in-law, their two children, and his father. After winning, he said he would use the money to ensure a brighter future for his children and further his work as a carpenter.
