The Punjab government, led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, has placed the anti-gangster helpline 93946-93946 at the centre of its zero tolerance policy, turning citizen input into a powerful weapon against crime.
Officials say the helpline has become a key source of actionable intelligence, directly contributing to a massive statewide crackdown. In the last 79 days, Punjab Police has conducted over 567 raids, leading to the arrest and imprisonment of 19,894 criminals.
The impact extends beyond anti-gangster operations. Under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, police have arrested 57,952 drug traffickers in 404 days, alongside major seizures of heroin and other narcotics, significantly disrupting supply networks.
Authorities stress that every piece of information shared on 93946-93946 is handled with complete confidentiality, ensuring the safety and anonymity of informers. This assurance has encouraged more citizens to actively participate in maintaining law and order.
To further strengthen public cooperation, the government has announced cash rewards ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of wanted criminals.
Reiterating its firm stance, the state leadership has urged people to make full use of the helpline, stating that public participation, backed by swift police action, is driving the success of Punjab’s anti-crime and anti-drug campaigns.
