A shocking incident involving a young girl has come to light in Phagwara leading to anger among local residents.
According to information received a Gurdwara Granthi’s son allegedly took a four to five-year-old girl into a room after luring her with toffees and then allegedly behaved inappropriately with her and as news of the incident spread in the area local residents gathered and expressed strong anger over the matter. The family members of the victim girl alleged that accused youth committed wrong act with their minor daughter and after learning about the incident they immediately informed Phagwara Police and demanded strict action against accused.
The incident created concern among people living in neighborhood and residents said that such incidents are deeply disturbing and that children must be protected from such crimes and talking about the same Paramjit Kaur a local resident strongly condemned the incident and said that what happened to the innocent girl was very shameful and unacceptable. She further stated that the accused should receive strictest punishment under law so that such incidents do not happen again in future.
Soon after receiving information about the matter Bar Councilor Gurpreet Kaur Jandu also reached the spot and spoke to the family members and local residents and gathered information about entire incident and expressed serious concern over the case and while speaking about the matter Gurpreet Kaur Jandu said that the incident had brought shame to humanity. She stated that crimes against innocent children are extremely serious and should not be tolerated under any circumstances and she also demanded strict punishment for accused so that it serves as a lesson for others.
Police officials reached the spot after receiving complaint and began their investigation and according to police a case has been registered against accused youth under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on statements given by victim's family. Police officials further confirmed that accused has been arrested and taken into custody and the investigation in the case is continuing and further legal action will be taken according to the law.
The incident has shocked residents of the area with many people demanding strict punishment for anyone found guilty of crimes against children and local residents have also appealed to parents and guardians to remain alert and ensure the safety of young children.
Police have assured that the matter is being investigated seriously and that appropriate action will be taken as per legal procedures.
