A 66-year-old man, identified as Bhushan Kumar Mittal, died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while waiting in a queue to collect a gas cylinder in Sehna village of Barnala district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the deceased, a resident of Sehna village, had been standing in line since around 8 AM to collect an LPG cylinder and was reportedly at the 25th position in the queue. Eyewitnesses sharing details about the incident say that while waiting, Mittal sat on a cylinder and suddenly suffered a heart attack and died on the spot before any medical help could be arranged.
Following the incident, the body was taken home by the family members and currently preparations are being made for a post-mortem examination. Commenting on the matter, Sukhwinder Singh Dhaliwal, a Congress leader from the Bhadaur constituency, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and demanded compensation from both the Central and Punjab governments.
Dhaliwal also stated that people in several places are forced to wait in long queues for LPG cylinders.
