In a village under the Khuian Sarwar police station in Abohar, a 45-year-old man allegedly raped a 7-year-old girl in his neighborhood. The girl has undergone medical examination at a government hospital, and the police have been informed.
The girl's mother told the police that the incident occurred on December 30. The woman said that her daughter was playing with other children in the neighborhood. The accused, lured the girl into his house and allegedly committed the heinous act.
When the girl did not return after some time, her family started searching for her. Neighbors informed them that the accused had taken her to his house. When the girl was brought back and examined, signs of assault were found on her body. Later, the girl was admitted to a government hospital for treatment, where her medical examination was conducted.
The police have registered a case and are searching for the absconding accused. Meanwhile, Khuian Sarwar Police Station incharge Ranjit Singh said that upon receiving the information about the assault, his police team immediately admitted her to the hospital for a medical examination.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is being conducted by Woman Inspector Jyoti of Fazilka district.
