In a unique public welfare initiative aimed at enhancing the comfort, dignity, and mobility of senior citizens, Nitin Kohli, In-Charge of Jalandhar Central, has launched a free e-rickshaw service for residents aged 65 years and above. The initiative is being regarded as one of the first dedicated services of its kind introduced by a political leader in Punjab exclusively for senior citizens.

The service has been launched under the campaign “Convenience for Seniors, Our Responsibility” and is designed to assist elderly residents with their daily transportation needs. Beneficiaries will be able to avail free rides to gurdwaras, temples, satsang gatherings, social functions, medical stores, and other essential destinations within the area.

Speaking about the initiative, Nitin Kohli said that senior citizens are the foundation of society and deserve the highest level of respect, care, and support. He emphasized that many elderly people face difficulties in commuting for routine tasks, religious visits, and social engagements, and this service has been introduced to ensure that transportation challenges do not become a barrier in their daily lives.

Sharing his vision, Kohli stated that development should not be measured solely through infrastructure projects but also through initiatives that improve the quality of life for people. He said his vision for Jalandhar Central is to create a constituency where every section of society—especially senior citizens, women, youth, and the underprivileged—feels valued, supported, and empowered. According to him, meaningful public service is about addressing real-life challenges faced by citizens and delivering practical solutions that make a positive difference.

The event was attended by Subash Sharma, Goldy Marwaha, Manish Sharma, Parveen Pabbi, M.B. Bali, Sumit Sharma, Rajiv Gill, Gurpreet Kaur, Love Robin, Ajay Chopra, Manmohan Raju, Deepak Kumar, Amardeep Singh Kinnu, Jaswinder Singh, Tarlok Saran, Parveen Pehlwan, Naresh Sharma, Jatin Gulati, Nikhil Arora, Harpal Mintu, Ashok Sabarwal, Tarandeep Sunny, Lagandeep and Jaspreet Singh Rippy who appreciated the initiative and described it as a thoughtful step towards ensuring dignity, convenience and care for senior citizens in Jalandhar Central.

The initiative has received an encouraging response from local residents and senior citizens, who have welcomed it as a thoughtful and people-centric step. Many residents believe that such efforts not only provide convenience but also reinforce the importance of dignity and respect for the elderly in society.

Senior citizens wishing to avail themselves of the service may contact 0181-5018181 or 89686-21277.

More than just a transportation facility, the free e-rickshaw service reflects a commitment to compassionate governance and community welfare. It marks another step toward building a more inclusive, caring, and citizen-focused Jalandhar Central.
